Dr. Ackerman also completed a 3 year residency in Dermatology at the University of Pittsburgh and trained at The University of Pittsburgh ,Presbyterian Hospital of Pittsburgh.and the Veterans Administration Hospital. At the University of Pittsburgh she was nominated with the "Young Investigator Award in Dermatology Research" by Upjohn Pharmaceuticals in 1992 based on her research on the application of a new class of Medications, immunomodulators used in treating skin diseases. She received a Bachelor of Science degree with from St. John's University in 1982 with academic Honors. . After her undergraduate degree she attended SUNY Medical school. Dr. Ackerman completed a residency in both Dermatology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Ackerman is Board Certified in Dermatology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology.
